Not a Gap Year but a Lifetime Katharine Makower

Two doctors, Dr Leonard Sharp and Dr Algernon Stanley Smith, heard God’s call to take the Gospel of Jesus Christ to people who had never heard of him. They felt drawn to East Africa, but that was all; so they set off in faith, not knowing where they should go, and took the first step by going to Uganda. They did not know what this would involve or how many difficulties would come their way.

Dr Len and Dr Algie were convinced that medical work was the most effective way to reach out to people who had never heard of the love of God in Jesus Christ; they always had prayers and Bible teaching in the hospitals they founded.

They left a legacy of medical, education and literature in south-west Uganda, Rwanda and Burundi, but most of all in the lives transformed by the Gospel they preached and lived.
